They say a change is as good as a holiday and seeing as a holiday is off the cards for a while a change in my Instagram handle (from My journey as a mom to Suburban Cape Town mom) seemed appropriate with Baby Shark joining our tribe in a few short weeks. I actually made this change a few weeks back but only getting round to writing this post now. Join me as I elaborate on what blogging means to me and where Suburban Cape Town Mom is heading.
Everyone seems to be writing a blog these days; moms, beauty enthusiasts, travel gurus, foodies even dads and with so much ‘noise’ out there how do you choose which blogs to follow? Well I guess you need to decide, firstly, what interests you. I’m a mom so clearly I am a mom blogger but I also love travel (own my own travel company and been in the business for over 13 years) and eating out at great restaurants. Then, you need to decide if you like following & reading posts from international bloggers or if you prefer local, people who live in the same city & country as you. Personally I prefer the latter because products, etc are more in line with my life. I am based in Cape Town, South Africa but some of my travel & restaurant posts might be of interest to international readers if they are visiting South Africa with their families. All I’m really getting at here is that there is space in the blogging world for each one of us. We all have something to share & all opinions & view points are valid.
Moving forward
What do I want to achieve moving forward with Suburban Cape Town Mom? I’d love to work with more brands that are inline with who I am & what I believe in. I am very specific about what I like and don’t like and feel we can only be honest if we stick to our true self. I’m not willing to just accept any gifts or sponsored posts just to have content and “free things”; it’s not about that. It’s about sharing a passion for products or services that make my world better & easier.
