Date night ideas

Date night ideas

Almost the entire world is in some form of lockdown right now, (thanks Covid19!) but that doesn’t mean we can’t still have regular date nights. We just have to modify them, think outside the box a bit. So here are a few of my date night ideas for lockdown!

Afternoon picnic

If you’re fortunate enough to have kids that are either old enough they can occupy themselves or young enough they still have long afternoon naps then this one is for you! Grab a blanket, some snacks & a drink and curl up under the tree with your partner. It might not be the longest date you’ve ever had, but it will give you some time to reconnect and catch up on each others’ news.

Candlelit dinner

The kids are finally in bed & asleep, the monitor is on just in case and the house is quiet. Set up a lovely dinner (homemade, store bought or takeaways), light a few candles, turn down the lights and enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner in your own home. Yes you have to do your own washing up, but you don’t have to worry about drinking and driving!

A nightcap

After your candlelit dinner why not continue the evening with a nightcap or aperitif? It’s a change of scenery so you can imagine you’ve left the restaurant and are stopping at a low-lit lounge bar on the way home. Enjoy some Amarula on ice or even an Irish coffee while snuggled up close to your true love!

Go to the movies

After tucking the kids into bed, make a big bowl of popcorn, sprinkle over some Astro’s and snuggle up on the couch to enjoy a movie together. Whether it’s an old favourite or something that’s just been released, enjoying a movie together is a great way to spend an evening.

If you have any other date night ideas, please share them in the comments below.

Much love xxx
