No no no, calm right down! I’m not becoming a beauty blogger (we all saw how my before & after Instagram post tanked) but going to a spa is something I love and something I generally do quite often. Usually I just get my nails & toes done but I also love facials & massages and I’ve decided that I really feel like having my brows & lashes shaped (just brows obvs) and tinted again. So in the spirit of my blog & being a mom I thought I’d share my experience with you all! Having my eyebrows & lashes done will also go a long way with making my daily make up application quicker & easier and we know as moms we are all about that! A few weeks ago I put up an Instastory asking for recommendations of good local spas (Cape Town Southern Suburbs) as I wanted to try something new and I had an overwhelming number of people mention Gingerlily Beauty Spa & Nail Boutique so I decided to book myself a morning of treatments. As I’m a mom I had to change appointment dates & times a few times but finally was able to settle on a day, and today was my appointment. The treatments I booked were eyebrow & lash tint, eyebrow shape, express manicure (my eczema hands don’t cope with full manicures unfortunately) and full Gingerlily pedicure (anyone else’s feet take serious strain since being pregnant?).

I arrived just on time and was warmly greeted by the receptionist and allowed to choose my colour. After being introduced to my therapist, Geraldine, she offered me tea, coffee or water and we went through to the treatment room. Hands & feet were done simultaneously; the foot massage was heavenly and quite frankly I could have spent the whole day just having a massage! Next my eyebrows were shaped & coloured along with my lashes. I was impressed that she did the brows lighter first and we could build on that colour; I didn’t want to walk out with dark caterpillars on my face!
My treatments took 1,5 hours in total which was perfect timing for fetching Tristan. What I also liked was my hands being done right at the beginning, giving them enough time to dry before I had to firstly pay and secondly drive! I can’t stand when my nails smudge! My other plus point is that it’s an actual spa, not in a mall, with plenty of parking. You feel relaxed when you’re there and it’s a real treat! I will definitely be back!
